Március 6-án tartják a Nemzetközi Energiatakarékossági Világnapot, melyről 2000 óta – immáron 24. alkalommal – Magyarországon is megemlékeznek.

A Föld népességének dinamikus növekedésével és az egy főre eső erőforrások csökkenésével egyre égetőbb témává válik az energiatakarékosság és a megújuló energiaforrások használata.  Nagy kérdés azonban, hogyan lehet ösztönözni az embereket, hogy környezettudatosabban éljék mindennapjaikat.

E világnap célja kettős. Egyrészt felhívni a figyelmet környezettudatosságra, a fenntarthatóságra és az energiatakarékosságra. Másrészt cselekvésre ösztönözni, hogy a globális megoldási módokat át tudjuk ültetni a saját hétköznapjainkba. Kis lépésekkel mi magunk is sokat tehetünk a fenntarthatóságért, egy élhetőbb jövőért.
